The Seattle Seafair Pirates Official Web Site - Pirate Kings of the Northwest since 1949 It's a high-humored heist by the Seattle SEAFAIR Pirates. The salty troupe's shenanigans and formidable float, the Duck, have become synonymous with SEAFAIR revelry. The Pirates, originally members of the Washington State Press Club's Ale & Quail Society, banded together in 1949 to promote Seattle and Seafair while having fun and serving the community. Despite their bad-guy image, the Pirates make dozens of appearances annually to hospitals and nursing homes. During the height of Seattle's SEAFAIR Celebration, they appear at several events and parades each day. The 40+ Pirates are an elite troupe who carefully selects their members based on their ability to mix well with the public and for their unique musical or theatrical talents.

Well! I was working at the Tullys on 4th and Union while the Moby Duck brought up the end of the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Suddenly, there appeared--in my little coffee shop!--a long, tall pirate in a very Irish (or would a pirate say, "Arrrrrr-ish?") green longcoat! Certainly there is no better, cheekier, more scurvy pirate than he! While I don't know his jolly alias, I hope someone can tell him he made this wench's day.

Please pass this on to the Lopez family, our prayers and hearts go out to them. I had never met Santos, but talked to him many times on the phone and numerous emails about 3 years ago. He was trying to get me an electric scooter to get around after surgery I had put me in a wheelchair. He did have a huge heart of gold. Since then Gary and I have become a part of the Seafair Family and are Parade Marshals. We didn't know until this was announced on the news tonight that he had passed away. I am still in shock. He will be missed. Roberta and Gary

Just attended the 30th Annual Pirates Week National Festival in the Cayman Islands. What a time!!!! The Pirate Invasion was spectacular! The fireworks, the street dances, the costumes, the parade, the pirates, the rum! Heritage Festivals all over the Islands with song, dance, music, local foods, rum and pirates. Avast! C.I. was invaded from one end to the other with pirates of all shapes and sizes. The little ones at the costume contest were a hoot! Seattle Seafair Pirates.....thanks for the memories, you are the BEST! Arghhhhhhhhhhh

It was awesome when you pirates came to my school! I loved the money you handed out, playing stump the pirate, and Dead Ear Dick painting my face! I also loved all the activities you did with us! I was very happy we had you come and hopefully you will come again next year! It was one of the most fun things we have ever done at my school! Thanks a lot!

Sorry to hear about the cannons. In my day with the group they would put whoever was dumb enough to leave the cannons aboard the Duck up on charges and, to quote Weaver Dial, "give them the iron boot."

Avast there me hardies! What great childhood memories I have of Seafair and the Seafair Pirates from the 50's and early 60's. My dad, C.J."Jim" Sperry, was a pirate back then and I got to dress up and ride with my dad and the pirates as the "littlest pirate", throwing candy to the crowd from the famous converted DUK amphibious landing craft pirate ship in the 1960 Seafair parade. But the best memory of all is when my dad arranged a surprise visit by the pirates to my 8th birthday party that summer. Boy were the neighbor kids impressed! Thanks for the memories and may everyone always continue to have the pleasure of being "Had" by the Seattle Seafair Pirates!

A few years back at the Daffodil Parade you guys were there. As you slowly passed by shooting the cannon I took notice of the last pirate who had a Lobster attached to his ankle! I would like to put in something about Bill as well. I wasn't sure of the date of his passing. I remember during Mass in Pirates Week 1999 Bill told me afterwards that I need to stop yawning during the service and I don't think I have since then, at least not during Pirates Week. God Bless you Bill.

I am writing about something from the past. My mother inherited some pirate memoribilita from the last landing at alki. She recieved a hat with many SEAFAIR Pirates landings buttons along with a sword and scaberd from someone whom she had known for a great many years. She wants to donate it all to the pirates museum. It would be my pleasure to bring these articles to wherever you need them. My phone number is xxxxxxxxx. Please contact me. My mothers name is Enid Williams and she is right now living in a nursing home due to a fall that broke her foot and wants me to make the presentation to the museum in her name. Thank you all for the summer fun and for all the years you have been around. Thomas Smith
